The Importance of Breathwork in Holiday stress:
Our minds are always going, thinking, doing. Breathwork allows you to slow down, catch what is going on and decide if this is something you should keep that is good for you or let it go. It really is that simple, we humans complex it.
Holidays, no matter what holiday it is can be stressful.
Try adding some breath in different ways.
Here are some FUN reminders to BREATHE:
Aromatherapy is a GREAT way for our senses to be triggered in a good way. It gets our attention to stop and breathe.
I love to put essential oils on my socks, in a spray for the room, on my pillow case, and of course a few oils on the body is a wonderful natural aroma.
People will start calming down around you when they smell you!
A SNOW GLOBE
No matter your age, who doesn’t love a snow globe?
I use it as a symbol in BREATHWORK to remind people to imagine they are on the INside breathing, protected and safe.
Why? Because we need to find a place of remembrance that no matter where we are we need to have our imaginary bubble ON and breathing from a place of safety. Our central nervous system needs a safe home to land, to breathe as our entire body is vibrating from this tree of life. This is a great image to use for that image of “protection”. Your breath can put you in a bubble. It is fun to use this with children and all ages. The “snow” can be like our breath, where we need to “shake it up” to make some changes!
SOUND HEALING
I can never speak enough about music, sound healing, our breath being it’s own sound machine. Music is a gateway that opens the soul. It can crack us wide open as well as sooth us with our breath rocking us to sleep. There are many tools and varieties of sound healing, NATURE is the OG! When is the last time you took a walk in nature with NO ear buds in your ears or a cell phone to distract you except to take some photos in nature? Or better yet, turn the phone off, leave it in the car, disconnect to re-connect! And when you come to my breathwork class or a private session, sound healing is always included!
How to Practice Breathwork:
Just begin. Seriously just take a breath right now. Don’t judge it. Don’t measure it. Don’t even count how many times you are breathing. Just breathe with consciousness. What does that mean? Pay attention to ONLY your breath. Find your frequency, your vibration. What does that mean? Keep breathing INto yoU! You can get fancier and do all sorts of styles but we have to remember to get basic. Just breathe with intention. I like to give my mind ONE word or phrase to keep me INtentional in my breath. I always begin with “I AM”.
Here are a few examples:
I am love.
I am healthy.
I am more than enough.
I am grateful.
I am faithful.
How Often to Practice
I was quoted saying this in a prior interview & I still stand true to it, just remember to get IN your bubble with consciousness before you start adding in more complex breathing. It’s ok to keep it simple & it’s ok to explore, just be in a FULL inhale of presence and full exhale of release. Don’t try to keep up with others, wouldn’t you agree it’s time to get in your own “breath bubble?” Do you boo!
“Beth emphasizes the importance of integrating breathwork into our daily lives, tailoring the frequency and duration of practice based on individual needs and circumstances. Whether it’s a brief mindfulness exercise to start the day, a midday box breathing session to reset and recharge, or an evening alternate nostril breathing practice to unwind and prepare for restful sleep, incorporating breathwork into our daily routines can yield profound benefits over time.”
“Beth believes breathwork offers a simple yet transformative pathway to enhanced well-being, vitality, and resilience. By exploring and incorporating these fun and accessible breathwork techniques into our daily lives, we can tap into the healing power of our breath and unlock our full potential for health and happiness.”
You can have reminders on your phone if you need to take some “breath breaks”, some “gratitude breathes” and reset yourself.
And you can join a breathwork class of mine or dive deeper in a 1:1 personal breathwork session either virtually or IN person. Breathwork is powerful when YOU decide to show up for YOU! Are you willing to do that in this season so your life can have some breaths of release & joy?
